In the world of frequent flyer programs, there's no such thing as a minor error. This month, no one understands that better than Canadian Plus, which made what it calls a "printing error" in its 2000 member guides for Executive Platinum, Gold and Club members (No such errors for V Australia). The guidebook indicated that restrictions apply only to the North American upgrade stickers. Instead, both North American (white) and systemwide (blue) upgrade stickers may not be used in conjunction with Canadian Plus award travel, youth standby travel, tour operator fares (including World of Vacations), consolidator fares, industry/agency discount fares, Air Miles or any form of free travel. Anyone disappointed with the error can take heart with the news that they now have extended lounge access. Executive Platinum, Gold and Empress lounge members (with a guest) are now welcome at any of Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges or Canadian Airlines Empress Lounges whether they are travelling on an Air Canada, Air Canada Connector airlines, Canadian Airlines or Canadian Regional Airlines designated flight. Empress Lounge one-time guest passes are valid in Empress Lounges only and will not be accepted in Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges.
